The Acer Liquid Android smartphone has been out for just over a week and the reviews are finally starting to roll in. The great news for prospective purchasers is that overall impressions are positive. Despite the handset not being as polished in the UI department compared to its rivals, it still manages to score marks for its snappy processor and responsive touchscreen.
On the negative side, the handset has a “plasticky feel”, the camera is button is hard to press and the keyboard can be unresponsive. Check out the reviews released so far after the jump.
Cnet: “Acer’s first attempt at an Android handset, the Liquid is a good smart phone, thanks to its large screen and great connectivity. Its plasticky case keeps it from being truly beautiful, but, with its touch-sensitive buttons and sleek shape, it’s no beast either. Acer’s additions to Android are useful, if not particularly inspiring, and the operating system has more than enough going for it to make this smart phone craveable”
Pocket-Lint: “Overall the Acer Liquid is an interesting addition to the Android portfolio. It gets some things really right: the screen is a good size and resolution and responsive enough and the essentials are covered: HSDPA, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. For those looking for an Android device that hasn’t been tinkered with too much, then this might be worth investigating, but beware what looks like some minor software bugs.”
Reg Hardware: “A combination of racy CPU and the naturally slick Android UI delivers one of the most responsive touchscreen phones on the market.”

I got the phone and I loved how snappy the phone was. I am in the US and got the 900/1900/2100 umts version. I can confirm that the phone worked on att 1900mhz 3g. I however had issues with the phone crashing when in a connected in an a EDGE area it would freeze and reboot. I have sent for a replacement. I hope I just got a buggy phone and that this isn’t a platform issue. I believe the issue could only be duplicated when the phone was connected to 850/1900 edge when pulling data (surfing android market place for example). when phone was idle or in stand by it did not have issues. The other issue I had was the battery drains quickly especially when in a 3g area. Battery did not last more than 24 hours without recharge I guess I know why they under clocked it to 768.
I got it a week ago and I’m happy about it. If you switch of 3g it stands much longer indeed and still you can surf on line even if it is slower.
it is confirmed: there’ll be an update to 2.0 around mars.
I have trouble with hanging up the phone because the screens turns in black sometimes, bugs? does someone have an idea? Thanks in advance
