Buy Liquid now, wait for "E" or buy something else?

Hi! I'm looking at smartphones, intending to get a decent Android-based device. For the price, the Liquid seems to offer the most powerful CPU and by far the best display. However, support and updates seem to be non-existent.

I was thinking about buying a Liquid now, and then upgrade it to Android 2.1 later when the update comes out. However I read that the "E" model might come with 512MB of RAM instead of 256MB, in addition to coming with Android 2.1 pre-loaded. So maybe it's better to wait since from what I understand, it should be available any week now.

Also, can you be sure that this update will actually be released for the old model? Wasn't it supposed to have been released in April originally? Should I just get some other phone instead even though all others in the price range have 500-600 MHz CPUs and low-resolution displays?

My suggestion, wait for the liquid E to come out. Personal experience with the liquid has been good, though lack of hardware buttons can take time to get used to and even be a minor annoyance.

If you have the resources, go for a nexus one or wait for some of the newer phones from Motorola, since they tend to release updates faster. Acer is simply too slow to release updates.

Fortunately even though Acer sucks, the community has been quite active. I have modded my phone and am using the original liquid E rom on my older phone. The OS has definitely improved a bit and performance has not degraded by much, but I guess the 512MB of RAM will definitely be worth waiting for.
